18-year-old shot in the head at Brooklyn playground: sources

CANARSIE, Brooklyn (PIX11) – An 18-year-old was shot in the head at a Brooklyn playground Wednesday evening, sources told PIX11 News.

It happened near Flatlands Avenue and East 81st Street in Canarsie around 5:40 p.m., according to authorities. The 18-year-old man was shot once, police said.

He was taken to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center in critical condition.

A person of interest is in custody, according to authorities. The motive behind the shooting is unclear.
