    Exclusive: Chauncey Parker talks new role as NYC deputy mayor for public safety

    NEW YORK (PIX11) – Mayor Eric Adams on Tuesday appointed Chauncey Parker to be New York City’s new deputy mayor for public safety.

    Parker takes over the position that was held by Philip Banks, who resigned the week prior.

    Parker has a long record of civil service, serving as the assistant deputy mayor for public safety under Banks. He was also the NYPD’s deputy commissioner for collaborative policing and has spent time working for the Southern District of New York and the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.

    Parker joined “PIX on Politics” on Friday for his first sit-down interview since taking the position.
