    LCD Offers Free Advocacy Seminar for Latino Families in the Disability Community

    The Latino Community Development (LCD) program is offering Possibilities Without End SC, a free one-day seminar that provides Latino families resources for their loved ones with disabilities. The seminar will be on June 24, 2024, at the LCD office, 217 Park Terrace Dr. Suite 100, Columbia, SC 29212. Participants that would like to attend the self-advocacy training sessions can register at the link below, LCD representatives will respond back to confirm registration.     The event will feature South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs (DDSN) Autism Program Director Stephanie Turner. Turner will be providing general information about DDSN programs, elibibility, waivers, resources and Autism Spectrum Disorder information.

    The event will also feature Kelsey Vories from South Carolina Legal Services. Vories will provide legal information and advice related to disability related issues.

    Registered participants will be provided lunch and door prizes. They will learn how to get legal help related to disability rights, training in advocacy for family members and understand about ways to receive free/subsidized medical equipment, childcare, insurance, and more.
