LAFD Quickly Contains Brush Fire Along NB 2 Freeway in Los Angeles, No Homes Damaged
Yesterday afternoon, a brush fire ignited along the NB 2 Freeway, threatening homes atop a hill on Wawona Street. The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) responded with a Brush Fire response after an automobile fire began burning into the nearby brush. Per updates from the LAFD alert, crews worked on anchoring the fire at the freeway and stationed additional resources for structural defense. While structures were at potential risk, officials initially did not issue any evacuation orders.

Authorities ID man shot to death in Boyle Heights
LOS ANGELES – A 37-year-old man who was shot dead in Boyle Heights was identified Saturday. Joel Reyes Pizarro, who was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner’s office as the victim, was discovered initially by firefighters, who responded to a report of a person down around 6:15 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Marengo Street and Evergreen Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
