Man goes to hotel party with clean STD test, plans to abuse girls 14 and under, feds say
A 30-year-old man has been charged after being accused of going to a fake California hotel party with intent to sexually abuse girls 14 and under, federal officials said. Michael Batchelor told an undercover agent that he was looking for “minors who were in the age range of 6 to 14 and had blonde hair,” according to a July 18 news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office Central District of California.
Fires bunring east of Colfax in Placer County prompt evacuation warnings
IOWA HILL — Evacuation warnings were issued due to multiple fires burning east of Colfax in Placer County on Tuesday night.The fires were burning near the small town of Iowa Hill, near Sugar Pine Reservoir, the Foresthill Fire Protection District said. They sparked at around 8:45 p.m.Though evacuations are not mandatory, people in the town of Iowa Hill should be ready to leave at a moment's notice if the order progresses. A section of Iowa Hill Road was also closed, the Placer County Sheriff's Office said.A live map is up that shows where the evacuation orders apply.The Foresthill Fire Protection District had a helicopter flying over the area and said there were two fires.Wednesday morning, the Placer County Sheriff's Office announced that the fire had been contained at 4.9 acres. Evacuation warnings remain in effect for the moment, however.

SACRAMENTO — A Northern California man is accused of trying to have sex with minors at a fake hotel party in Los Angeles, prosecutors announced Thursday. Placer County resident Michael Batchelor, 30, was charged in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles with one count of attempted production of child pornography, one count of distribution and possession of child pornography, and one count of attempted enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity.
