Crowds pack Auburn State Recreation Area, battle for parking, spot along shore
PLACER COUNTY, Calif. — Crowds of people packed Auburn State Recreation Area early on the Fourth of July, trying to claim a parking spot and a place on the shore. Multiple people told KCRA 3 that cars arrived at the Auburn State Recreation Area as early as 6:30 a.m.

PLACERVILLE — Fourth of July celebrations will continue at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds on Thursday night, and there is a chance to catch a fireworks show.The gates opened at 3 p.m. for the annual Fourth of July Family Blast event. There is live music, food, drinks and other entertainment.Placerville Speedway will be hosting "Freedom and Fireworks" coordinated with the fairgrounds. The winery was founded by Tom Jones from Lava Cap Winery fame in the Apple Hill area near Placerville. Tom completed his master’s degree in Viticulture & Enology from UC Davis, and for almost 30 years developed award-winning wines. Tom and his wife Beth’s new endeavor began in 2014 with the purchase of the 33 acre property that had been known as Amador Foothill Winery. Having control of the grapes from vineyard to bottle was key in his quest for quality control with 17 acres planted in vines.
Musical Petting Zoo hits the right notes
Accompanying the noises of summer construction projects at Oak Ridge High School on June 5 was a cacophony of booms, hoots, pings, blares and rat-a-tat-tats. About 50 elementary- and middle school-aged children were welcomed to the high school in El Dorado Hills for a musical petting zoo, where kids got to know trombones, marimbas and many other instruments.
