(FOX40.COM) — Customers of Pioneer Electric will be happy to hear that during the hottest months of the year, they can expect to see a reduction in their rates, according to a recent release from the energy supplier.

“As part of our commitment to provide customer savings, the Pioneer Community Energy Governing Board approved at its July 18 meeting a mid-year rate adjustment to lower summer electricity rates, ensuring Pioneer customers save money during the summer, when rates and usage are at their highest,” Alice Dowdin Calvillo, Board Chair of Pioneer Community Energy wrote in a statement.

The average rate reduction will be around 5% and these reductions will be retroactive to July 1.

Customers can expect to see credits from the retroactive reductions on their August bill.

Pioneer was established in 2018 and serves Auburn, Colfax, Rocklin, Lincoln, Grass Valley, Nevada City, Placerville and unincorporated El Dorado County.
