Aug. 16 is North Liberty Night at the Kernels
On Friday, Aug. 16, the Cedar Rapids Kernels will host North Liberty Night with the Kernels as they play the South Bend Cubs, and we have some free tickets to give away. Starting at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14, adult North Liberty residents can each get up to four tickets at the front desk of the Community Center, 520 W. Cherry St. We have a limited number of free tickets, and they will be distributed in-person on a first-come, first-served basis only while they last. Those picking up must show proof of residency — ID or current utility bill indicating you live in city limits.
Iowa, Nebraska attorneys general to address women trucking leaders in Des Moines
The American Trucking Associations announced a partnership with Iowa Motor Truck Association to host the first-ever Women in Motion Symposium on Aug. 14 and 15 in downtown Des Moines. The event will focus on professional development for women in the trucking industry and feature interactive panels with the Iowa and Nebraska attorneys general. “Although women currently make up nearly half of the United States’ labor force, they represent less than 7% of truck drivers and only one in five transportation and material moving jobs,” said American Trucking Associations COO Sarah Rajtik, co-chair of Women In Motion.
