End of Summer Traffic Enforcement
DES MOINES, Iowa – Last year, during the final weeks of summer, there were 54 traffic fatalities in Iowa; 44% involved impairment.* To prevent future tragedies, the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau (GTSB) is partnering with law enforcement across the state to decrease impaired driving. August 16-September 2, agencies will be participating in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over high-visibility enforcement project. You’ll see officers working together to remove impaired drivers/motorcycle riders from the road.
A Teddy Bear of a Super Bull
Teddy Bear is the big bull of the 2024 Iowa State Fair, weighing in at 3,064 pounds and earning the win in the Super Bull Contest. The purebred Simmental bull was the heaviest of the three bulls competing and is now on display at the entrance to the Cattle Barn for the remainder of the 2024 Iowa State Fair.

Waterloo Grocery Store Set to Close Temporarily
Last fall a locally owned and operated grocery store opened for business right in the heart of Waterloo. Officials confirm that the business is facing some challenging times. All In Grocers was a work in progress for several years. Located in the Walnut neighborhood in Waterloo, the grocery store opened its doors in October of 2023.

Trio of Iowa football defenders on the Chuck Bednarik Award Watch List
Another year, another loaded defensive unit for the Iowa Hawkeyes. Once again they are boasting one of the nation’s most anticipated defensive units at all three levels. Three of those stars on the Hawkeyes’ defense reside at the linebacker and defensive back position. Those three stars, just like being named to the Nagurski Watch List, have also been named to another watch list.
