PLAINFIELD, NJ — The City of Plainfield completed its Independence Day celebration with a concert and fireworks at Cedar Brook Park on Friday evening. The event was preceded by a parade on Thursday and the opening of a 4th of July Parade photo exhibition on Tuesday at Plainfield Public Library.

"The 100th Anniversary celebration of the Plainfield July 4th Parade really epitomized the journey of our city," said Plainfield Mayor Adrian Mapp. "It brought out residents from all across the city and surrounding communities. The diversity and richness of our Queen City was on full display, and it was heartwarming to see the unity in our community shining through those who came out and celebrated this historic milestone."

The mayor mentioned the eclectic lineup at the concert at Cedar Brook Park, which kept diverse groups of Plainfield residents moving to a variety of beats before an impressive display of fireworks.

"It was a two-day celebration for the history books in the Queen City," concluded the mayor.

"We had perhaps the most well-attended parade in decades, and seeing the streets lined with residents was a joy to watch," said Plainfield City Council President Steve Hockaday. "This year's festivities—including the parade, concert, fireworks, and the photo exhibition—truly highlight the vibrant spirit and unity of our city. These events not only provide a wonderful opportunity for us to come together in celebration but also to reflect on the values and freedoms that make our nation great."

Councilor Hockaday encourages Plainfield residents to visit the 4th of July Parade photo exhibition, which will remain until September 28th in the Anne Louse Davis Room of the Plainfield Public Library.
