Lower personal, business income taxes take effect in Georgia
(The Center Square) — Several tax changes took effect on Monday, the start of fiscal 2025, including a decrease in Georgia's personal and corporate income tax rates. House Bill 1015 lowers Georgia's personal income tax rate to 5.39% from 5.49%, while HB 1023 sets the corporate income tax rate — previously 5.75% — to the same level as the personal rate. Georgia Power expands Income-Qualified Discount to assist thousands of additional customers
Georgia Power has expanded a program previously known as the “Income-Qualified Senior Discount” to benefit many more customers who have limited incomes and financial resources. The program expansion follows approval by the Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC) in December 2023, and went into effect on May 1, 2024. Through the expanded program, the company expects to make the discount available to tens of thousands of additional customers each year.
