PLAINVILLE, Mass. (WPRI) — A horse found itself in an unusual situation on the Plainville-Wrentham town line.

A Plainville resident called police around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday to report that his 20-year-old horse wandered into an outbuilding on his property that was left open by mistake.

As the horse walked inside, the floor collapsed under its weight, sending her crashing into the basement, according to police.

It took all day, but multiple agencies got the frightened horse out of the basement. She only suffered minor injuries.

Police said the “emotional owner was beyond grateful to everyone who worked so diligently to save his treasured equine.”
