Evacuation of Costco in Plano is a 'precautionary measure' after natural gas leak says Atmos

PLANO (1080 KRLD)- The Plano Police Department says they are responding to a call about a natural gas leak at a Costco Wholesale store just before noon Thursday.

According to a post published on the social media platform X, Plano Fire Rescue is also assisting to the call while they work to evacuate the entire store located at 1701 Dallas Pkwy.

Police have also asked Atmos Energy to respond to the location.

Atmos Energy confirms a natural gas leak was discovered during a routine inspection and that resulted in the evacuation as a precautionary measure.

We have issued a precautionary evacuation of the Costco in the area and continue to work with Plano Fire-Rescue to make the area safe. Residents may experience traffic delays and should seek an alternate route.
