PLANO (KDAF) — Pickleball Kingdom – Plano has announced a unique and inspiring event, the “Match for the Generations,” featuring 94-year-old pickleball legend Joyce Jones and 10-year-old rising star Nicolett. This special match-up event will take place at Pickleball Kingdom – Plano on Friday, July 26, 2024 at 4:00 PM.

Joyce Jones, hailing from Washington State, is renowned for her incredible dedication to pickleball over the past four decades. Having started her journey in racquet sports with badminton and tennis, Joyce’s passion for pickleball began at the age of 50. At the age of 94, she has become a beloved figure in the pickleball community, earning numerous accolades, including over 50 titles in national and international tournaments. Her story of resilience, dedication, and unwavering love for the game continues to inspire players of all ages.

Nicolett, a vibrant 10-year-old from Florida, discovered pickleball when her father started their hometown’s first youth program for the sport. She has been playing since she was six and has quickly become a natural ambassador for the game, drawing athletes of all ages to the court with her enthusiasm and energy. Despite her young age, Nicolett has already achieved significant success, including winning Gold and Bronze medals at the US Open Pickleball Championship and local tournaments.

The “Match for the Generations” will be a thrilling “Best 2 of 3” tournament, showcasing both players’ unique talents and spirit. The match will feature Joyce and Nicolett playing doubles against the local Pickleball Kingdom – Plano members or staff. This event is a celebration of their individual achievements and a testament to the appeal and inclusivity of pickleball for all ages and skill levels.
