The red brick walls of First Baptist Dallas Church's historic sanctuary are soot-singed and intact, but only devastation and ashes are found within. At 6:05 pm, the Dallas Fire-Rescue received a call for 1717 San Jacinto street in the heart of downtown Dallas. A second alarm was requested at 6:20 pm. The fire was contained until 7:35 pm when the roof partially collapsed and a third alarm was called. Finally, a fourth alarm was called at 8:14 pm, according to CBS5 News.

DALLAS, Texas — Dallas police were kept busy overnight with a series of incidents, including two homicides and a business robbery. On July 20, 2024, at about 8:13 PM, officers responded to a business robbery call in the 2200 block of W Ledbetter Drive. The suspect entered the business, pointed a gun at the victim, and demanded property before fleeing the scene. No injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing under case number 111406-2024, according to the Dallas Police Department.

DALLAS — The leader of a historic church in downtown Dallas nearly destroyed by a fire told congregants on Sunday that they will rebuild the iconic structure.Services for First Baptist Dallas were held at the nearby Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, where senior Pastor Robert Jeffress said they will rebuild the sanctuary, which now appears as a charred shell, with its stained glass windows ruined and virtually everything inside its brick walls destroyed."If we allow that thing to remain in ruins, it will look to the whole world like we've been defeated by the evil one, so we're going to rebuild," Jeffress said....

Homicide at 3300 W. Pentagon Parkway
On July 21, 2024, at about 3:55 AM, Dallas police responded to a shooting call in the 3300 block of W. Pentagon Parkway. The preliminary investigation determined when officers arrived, they found 31-year-old Patrick Lee Island II lying shot on the ground. Dallas Fire Rescue responded, and the victim died at the scene. This remains an ongoing investigation that will be documented under case number 111594-2024.
