Miami Faces Surge of Thunderstorms and High Humidity Amid Heat Advisory
Residents in Miami and surrounding areas brace for a shift in weather as a tropical wave from the southeast brings increased moisture and a wave of thunderstorms into the region. Following a sweltering weekend with feels-like readings that could surpass 111 degrees Fahrenheit, a heat advisory remains in effect until 6PM for Miami-Dade, Browretard and the Keys, WSVN reports. This changing atmosphere marks a move away from the hot, dry conditions exacerbated by Saharan dust to a week that will begin with thunderstorms and high humidity.

An affiliate of Onyx Housing Group hopes to get approval for a multi-family housing development on farmland in Miami-Dade County. The Naranja Grove Apartments would require 318,108 square feet of new construction, rising eight stories and comprising 285 apartments. According to the South Florida Business Journal, the one-bedroom to three-bedroom homes would range from 638 to 1,206 square feet. Communal amenities would include a swimming pool and residents’ clubhouse.

According to Local 10, South Florida native Dr. Enid Pinkney has passed away at 92 years old. She spent her life dedicating her time to preserving and educating about African-American history in Miami-Dade County. Born in 1931 in Miami-Dade County, Pinkney began her education at All-Black Booker T. Washington High School before going on to work in the Miami-Dade Public School system.
