Surveying for a $2.4 million street resurfacing project in Selma has been announced thanks to a Delta Regional Authority (DRA) grant. The funding comes from the DRA's Community Infrastructure Fund Grant Program. The project will involve milling, paving, and repairing storm water inlets in more than 60 city blocks in the downtown area and Disaster Area 1.

Holtville Middle School janitor arrested for possession of stolen gun, drugs on campus
A now former Holtville Middle School janitor is in custody, and a School Resource Officer and administration are much appreciated for quick action, officials say. George Rolle, 29, of Montgomery was taken into custody Aug. 9 at the school and then booked into the Elmore County Jail on multiple charges. These include Possession of a Deadly Weapon on School Grounds, Receiving Stolen Property 2nd Degree, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. His cash bond is set at $42,000.
