Murdo Diner Comes Up Short In South Dakota Burger Battle
MURDO, (KCCR) — Murdo’s Circle-E Drive In was up this year for the 2024 So Dak Best Burger. The contest, held by the South Dakota Beef Industry Board, looked for beef consumers and connoisseurs to nominate restaurants across the state they thought had the best hamburger around. The Circle-E’s Big Al Burger made this year’s top five, along with burgers from eateries in Sioux Falls, Webster, Deadwood and Custer. Judges visited the restaurants to anonymously judge the entries. Nominations could be made between May 1st and June 16th. In the end, the Angry Neighbor Burger from Neighbors Grub and Pub in Summerset won the So Dak Best Burger contest. It’s a half pound burger with pepper jack cheese, grilled onions, hatch green chilies and jalapenos. The burger is topped with the home-made Angry Neighbor Sauce. Beef Industry Council Communications Manager Riley Zoss says they only released the winner so there is no available information about where in the top-five the Circle-E placed. Yelp, through user input, determined the Circle-E had the best cheeseburger last year.
