RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - The 2024 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally hasn’t officially started yet, but multiple motorcycle accidents have resulted in fatalities in KOTA Territory this week. South Dakota Highway Patrol Trooper Taran Hunt often rides a motorcycle while on duty, and he gave some safety tips for those cruising western South Dakota’s highways during this period of increased traffic.

The drafting of property tax relief legislation has already begun in preparation of the 2025 legislative session. One truck rear-ends another near Custer, 1 dead
CUSTER, S.D. - Two trucks were involved in a crash at the intersection of Carroll Creek Road and US 385 in Custer County on Wednesday morning, killing a 24-year-old man. The driver of a 2017 Freightliner M2 Medium Duty truck was traveling northbound on US 385 at the intersection of Carroll Creek Road at 10:30 a.m. At the same time, the driver of a 2013 Chevrolet Express G2500 truck was also northbound on US 385, approaching the intersection.
