Total Health Experience to break ground Thursday on Urbandale medical campus
Total Health Experience is holding a groundbreaking ceremony for a state-of-the-art medical campus planned on 25.3 acres, north of Interstate Highways 80/35 in Urbandale. The event starts at 10 a.m. and is open to the public. When completed, the campus will include up to nine buildings with 265,000 square feet of newly constructed space. In July, John Deere announced that there would be layoffs all across the company. Company officials gave the following explanation for the most recent round of layoffs;. "Despite our efforts to contain costs and optimize production and inventory levels, the strategies we have implemented – including a global hiring freeze – have proven insufficient in addressing the challenges posed by declining customer demand, rising costs, and prevailing economic uncertainties crucial for ensuring the long-term health of our business."
State university leaders discuss budgets for next fiscal year
The presidents of the three state universities held a general discussion of their budgets for the next fiscal year Wednesday during a meeting with the State Board of Regents. University of Northern Iowa president Mark Nook says the new nursing program is one area they are trying to help the state. “The nursing program officially launches this fall we have 30 students admitted to that program, the first cohort the initial cohort of nursing students,” he says, “and in the spring we will admit another 48 students into a cohort.” He says they have other areas where they are also focusing on the need for workers in the state.”We’ll also be making investments in the material science engineering and material science engineering technology programs. Both of these are essential for Iowa’s manufacturing workforce needs,” Nook says.
