Brother Elsey’s ‘Red Tape’ raises awareness about mental health
Brother Elsey — a Nashville-based quartet — released their newest song, “Red Tape,” on May 10 through River House Artists. The song focuses on the topic of mental health, specifically anxiety. The band co-wrote the song with indie artist Madi Diaz. The song employs a visual concept of red tape, which Brady Stabelin describes as a symbol of the barriers we place around our struggles or the journey toward feeling better. This red tape can get in the way of life while all we truly desire is to be honest with ourselves.
Shelter forced to evacuate animals after air conditioning fails
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Nashville Humane Association is without air conditioning at possibly the worst time to be without a way to keep cool. With a heat advisory in effect for the Nashville area until 8 p.m., Nashville Humane reported its location on Oceola Avenue has been without air conditioning since Sunday. Staff at the shelter were told a permanent fix cannot happen until Thursday.
Adair native dies following hit and run
Adair native Matthew Carney died July 4 as a result of injuries sustained from of a hit-and-run incident on June 19 outside his restaurant in Nashville, Tennessee. Mathew was the son of Clifford Carney. An investigation continues to identify the driver of the hit-and-run vehicle.

Lipscomb Women’s Soccer Adds Elisa Swanson as Assistant Coach
Elisa Swanson, a native of Ottawa, ON, joins the Lipscomb’s Women’s Soccer coaching staff in May of 2024. Prior to her arrival in Nashville, Swanson spent one season as the assistant coach at St. Bonaventure University, after spending three seasons on staff at Messiah University. While on staff at Messiah, Swanson helped lead the program to the NCAA Division III Sweet 16 in 2021 and a Final Four bid in 2022.
