    100 Years Ago: A. D. Macham, for many years a Lenawee resident, dies in Plymouth

    July 28, 1924: Allen D. Macham, aged 72 years, for many years a resident of Lenawee County, died yesterday afternoon at his home in Plymouth, Mich., after an illness extending over a period of several months, during which time he underwent several major operations at the Mayo Bros., hospital at Rochester, Minn. Mr. Macham was for many years, a farmer residing near Holloway. Disposing of his farm, Mr. Macham with his family moved to Adrian, where they lived until, seven years ago when they moved to Plymouth. He received $50,000 for his farm, which at that time was the largest real estate deal ever recorded in the county and he also received the record price per acre. After moving to Adrian. Mr. Macham became interested in the Times acting as president of the company which owned the newspaper from 1909 to 1912. His brother-in-law William Baum being the business manager. Mr. Macham is survived by two daughters, Mrs. B. E. Ciles and Mrs. L. B. Samsen, both of Plymouth. Mrs. Macham died a year ago. He also leaves three grandchildren, six brothers and two sisters as follows: David of Tecumseh, Horace of Manton, Dudley of Lowell, Charles of Flint, Earl of Deerfield, Thomas of Blissfield, Mrs. William Baum of Hamilton, Ind., and Mrs. Frances Hunter of Newark, N. J. The body will be brought to Holloway where funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon July 30 at 2 o'clock eastern time at the Presbyterian church. The burial will be made in the Raisin Presbyterian cemetery.
