The local town ball seasons are well underway and both the Champlin Park LoGators and Plymouth Hitdawgs were hard at work last week with a series of games.

    LoGators

The Champlin Park LoGators started a busy week of townball action with a 3-0 win against Coon Rapids on June 3. Charlie Hutchinson pitched a strong game and earned 18 strikeouts against the Red Birds, a team record.

The LoGators entered June with a range of results on their record. The team beat the Hinckley Knights and Quamba Cubs in May, before losing four games, two by one run, to a range of opponents. The win over Coon Rapids was the team’s second shutout win in eight games.

The LoGators lost their next game last week 16-6 to the Miesville Mudhens, but the night still had some positives to walk away with. Recent Minneapolis Southwest graduate and Concordia St. Paul commit Louis Walker starred with his first career two town ball hits, including one RBI.

The Minneapolis Cobras then beat the LoGators on June 8 in a 6-4 battle that saw Tyler Reichenborn hit two triples, while Edward Moore Jr. picked up five kills from four innings pitched in his townball debut.

A packed week ended on a high note as the LoGators beat the Centennial Cougars 16-6 on June 9 in a win that featured five RBI from Ethan Mocchi and two RBI from Jeff Heuer.

    Hitdawgs

The Plymouth Hitdawgs played three games last weekend in the Brennan Field Classic. The action began against the Stillwater Loggers. Plymouth won 16-3 with Jack Zupfer as a star with an RBI, three runs, seven innings pitched and six hits to his name. Josh Delange added three runs while Ian Masui and Daniel Marxen hit three and two RBI respectively.

The Forest Lake Brewers were next up at the classic, beating the Hitdawgs 10-9 in a close battle on June 8. Marxen scored three runs in the game, while Cole Shirley hit two RBI and Masui hit one RBI.

Plymouth faced the Hinckley Knights on June 9 in the third-place game for the Brennan Field Classic, winning to conclude a busy weekend on a high note with a big performance from John Lyman, who pitched five innings and had 12 strikeouts plus two hits of his own. Marxen, Masui, and Aiden Frye had two RBI each against Hinckley.
