Plymouth residents Nirmala and Shruthi Rajasekar, a mother/daughter duo known around the world for their contributions to Indian classical music, participated in a benefit concert titled “Bringing Us Together” July 13 at the Hindu Temple of Minnesota.

The event featured music by Nirmala Rajasekar’s musical group Maithree, who performed to help the Hindu Society of Minnesota (HSMN) raise funds for a cultural, arts and education center. Michelle Kinney, Pat O’ Keefe, V. Srinivasan and Tim O’ Keefe are the other members of Maithree who worked with the Rajasekars to blend Indian, Irish and Turkish music throughout history for the fundraiser.

HSMN plans for the multi-purpose facility to host community activities and cultural/arts education. The project has been approved by the city of Maple Grove.
