WELLS — A New York man was taken into custody on suspicion of burglary at a Wells residence under construction, Vermont State Police reported Monday. Troopers from the Rutland Barracks responded to a call at approximately 4:55 p.m. on Aug. 18 about a suspicious male at Cones Point Store in Poultney, who was reportedly yelling inside the establishment.

State appeals Waterbury’s zoning requirement for armory use
The question of whether a local permit will be needed regarding the future use of the Waterbury armory appears to be headed to state Environmental Court. The state of Vermont on July 22 filed an appeal of the Waterbury Development Review Board’s June 20 decision agreeing with Zoning Administrator Mike Bishop’s explanation of the circumstances that would trigger the need for the state to apply for town zoning approval to use the armory in the future.

The Vermont field hockey team has announced its leadership group for the upcoming 2024 season, with seniors Sophia Drees, Meg Weyer, and Reggie Hillery appointed as captains.
