James Judson Blackley Worth, age 94, of Abingdon, Virginia, peacefully passed away Monday, December 27, 2021, in his home. He was a graduate of Augusta Military Academy in Fort Defiance, Virginia, and a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army Air Corps from 1945 to 1947. James earned a BS degree in Meteorology from Pennsylvania State University, and an MS in Meteorology from Michigan State University. Throughout his life, he worked as an Industrial Engineer, Geophysics Laboratory Director, Vice President of Engineering and Physical Sciences, President and General Manager, and as an Environmental Consultant. He was the President and Camp Director at Camp Minnehaha for 30 years.

The 2-0 undefeated Tygart Valley High School Bulldogs headed to Dunmore December 16 to take on the Pocahontas County High School Girls basketball Varsity and JV. TVHS took the first two quarters 13-9 and 11-8 and led 24-17 at the half. PCHS coaches Mike Kane, Chloe Bland and Allen Taylor must have said the right things to the team at the half. The Lady Warriors took the third and fourth quarters 19-11 and 11-6 to win the game, 47-41.

A Watoga Christmas Story ~ no presents necessary
Christmas at Watoga State Park always meant receiving a special present from my mom. I still cherish that gift all these years later. Of course, the park unwrapped presents year-round for me to enjoy, especially at Christmas. Watoga appeared to hibernate, but it was alive with life. White-tailed deer still foraged for food in the snow-covered hillsides. Otter, fox and racoon tracks could still be seen in the freshly fallen snow. The male and female cardinals still landed with ease in the nearby white oak trees.
