POCATELLO — A 25-year-old local woman was recently charged with a felony after police say she entered the shed of a local man and stole a bike from inside.

Jasmin Isabel Douglas, of Pocatello, has been charged with felony burglary following a Pocatello police investigation that unfolded around 7:20 a.m. on Friday, according to police and court records the Idaho State Journal recently obtained.

Pocatello police were dispatched to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello after being contacted by Douglas’ probation officer asking that she be arrested on an agent’s warrant, police said.

The probation officers informed the police officers that Douglas was in possession of a bicycle and would need a property receipt and Douglas informed police that the bike was not hers but she would not provide any information about where she obtained the bike, according to the report.

Dispatch then informed officers that the bike was likely stolen and provided them with a video that depicted Douglas entering a shed at a home on Wilson Avenue and removing the bike, police said.

Douglas informed officers that the bike she had at the hospital was the same bike removed from the shed, according to police.

Officers contacted the owner of the home who confirmed the bike was located in the shed earlier and that Douglas did not have permission to steal it.

In addition to being arrested on the agent’s warrant, Douglas was charged with felony burglary and booked inside the Bannock County Jail in Pocatello.

She appeared in front of 6th District Magistrate Judge Paul Laggis on Monday, during which her bond was set at $10,000 and Douglas entered a plea of not guilty, court records show.

Douglas is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on July 11, during which prosecutors will attempt to prove there is enough evidence against her to elevate the case from the magistrate to district court level for trial.

If convicted of the felony burglary charge, Douglas faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000.
