Troopers seek 2 suspects after Townsend robbery attempt leads to car crash
Delaware State Police are looking for a pair of suspects after a robbery attempt led to a car crash in Townsend over the weekend. The victims, a 19-year-old Middletown man and 18-year-old Newark woman, made arrangements with somebody they'd met on social media to meet the person in Townsend to sell them vape pens, police said.
McDaniel professor uses national grant to lead a team conducting jellyfish research
An all-female team of McDaniel students, led by Allison Kerwin, assistant professor of biology at the college, on Friday concluded the first of three summers conducting 10 weeks of research to test the effects of insecticides on jellyfish. Delaware State Police Troop 5 has issued a Gold Alert for 37-year-old Christopher Boyce of Laurel, Delaware. He was last seen at his residence around 10:18 p.m. on July 18, 2024. Attempts to contact or locate him have been unsuccessful, and there is a concern for his safety and well-being.
Shore Major Boys suffer first loss of All-Star Tournament
The Shore Little League Major boys suffered their first defeat of the Virginia State Tournament in Louisa on Saturday, falling to Spotsylvania County 3-1. Wyatt Johnson got the nod on the mound for Shore, pitching a gutsy 2 innings before being relieved by Aiden Lewis. Johnson, Lewis and Chase Brady combined to scatter only 3 hits and 1 walk in yet another outstanding pitching performance by the Shore pitching staff.
Wilmington Man Arrested After Traffic Stop in Dewey Beach
A traffic stop by Dewey Beach Police Friday night led to the arrest of a Wilmington man on a variety of charges. Police detected the odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and the driver handed police a New York driver’s license belonging to another person. The driver was later identified as 36 year old Ramone Shy of Wilmington. Shy attempted to run off on foot, but was arrested after a brief foot race. A search of the vehicle turned up black gloves, a flashlight, wire cutters, glass window punch and a flat-head screwdriver – which are commonly used for burglary. Shy is charged with the following offenses:
