    Restaurant inspections from Monroe County, Aug. 5-11

    These establishments in Monroe County were inspected between Aug. 5 and 11, according to Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture records .

    The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture provides this disclosure: "Please remember that any inspection is a 'snapshot' of the day and time of the inspection. An inspection conducted on any given day may not be representative of the overall, long-term cleanliness of an establishment. Also, at the time of the inspection, violations are recorded but are often corrected on site prior to the inspector leaving the establishment."

    Out of compliance

    Village Farmer and Bakery: 13 Broad St., Delaware Water Gap

    Inspected Aug. 7. Jurisdiction: Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. Violations: 10

    Inspector determined the person in charge did not demonstrate adequate knowledge of food safety. Inspector observed packaged foods in two walk-in coolers in direct contact with water dripping from condenser unit, causing a risk to possible contamination; food dispensing utensil in bulk ingredients stored in the food and not with handle above the top of the food and the container; cooled sauerkraut and chili not reheated to 165 degrees within two hours for hot holding (voluntarily discarded); prepackaged cookies and brownies not properly labeled with product and allergen information; in-use baking sheets, with old food and food debris stacked on top of one another without a cleaning after use, and a buildup of old food and old food residue inside both microwave ovens; non-food contact surfaces not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of dirt, soil and old food debris; a buildup of old food, dirt and debris on the floors; lights were not shielded or shatterproof in the rear walk-in cooler; and a buildup of dust and dirt on the fan guards in the counter service walk-in cooler and freezer and rear walk-in cooler.

    Inspected Aug. 8. Jurisdiction: Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. Violations: 13

    Inspector determined the person in charge did not demonstrate adequate knowledge of food safety. Inspector observed cigarettes on the food prep table in the kitchen area (corrected); several foods in the walk-in refrigerator and freezer area stored open with no covering; food utensils in the cook line area stored in a container of water not maintained at 135 degrees; wet wiping cloths in the cook line area not being stored in sanitizer solution; potatoes stored in an unclean area of the facility; food residue on a can opener and a black mold-like substance on the interior of the ice machine; hood filters with an accumulation of dust, dirt, grease, food residue and debris; a bucket in the handwash sink; an open, unscreened window in the kitchen area, not protecting against the entry of insects, rodents and other animals (corrected); evidence of rodents/insect activity; broken equipment stored at the facility; and the intake/exhaust air duct emitting dust and dirt into the air.

    Inspected Aug. 8. Jurisdiction: Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. Violations: 2

    Inspector observed there were not available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration; and the rear/receiving door had a gap not protecting against the entry of insects, rodents, and other animals.

    Snydersville Family Dinner: 6238 Route 209, Stroudsburg

    Inspected Aug. 9. Jurisdiction: Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. Violations: 5

    Inspector observed poultry thawing at room temperature on the back sink; cooked pork and beef and sour cream held at 46 degrees and raw chicken and beef at 56 degrees, rather than 41 or below (voluntarily disposed of); an ice scoop laying directly on top of thawing raw chicken and used by an employee to put ice into a container with raw seafood (scoop and machine were cleaned and sanitized and the raw seafood was voluntarily disposed of); one walk-in cooler leaking water from the drainage pipe under unit condenser and another dripping water from the seam that runs the length of the cooler along the middle; and both walk-in cooler fan guards with a buildup of dust.

    Inspected Aug. 9. Jurisdiction: Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. Violations: 1

    Inspector observed there was no sanitizer available for manual warewashing of the slushie machines.
