A man wanted for homicide in New Jersey was arrested Thursday in Monroe County, the U.S. Marshals Service announced.

Damian Bass, 19, was arrested around 6:15 a.m. at a residence on New York Boulevard in Chestnuthill Township, according to a news release.

He was wanted by the Monmouth County prosecutor for an Aug. 26 homicide at the New Jersey Transit Long Branch Station, the release said. This was the shooting of 43-year-old James Hailey of Newark, Deputy U.S. Marshal Bobby Lenahan confirmed.

The Nazareth Police Department in Northampton County also wanted Bass, the Pennsylvania State Police said Friday. Court records show he faces burglary, robbery and other charges for a Sept. 14, 2023, incident.

Bass was arraigned and taken to the Monroe County Correctional Facility to await extradition to New Jersey.
