Central Florida Roaster Otus Coffee Acquired by Jeff’s Bagel Run
Fast-growing Central Florida bagel cafe chain Jeff’s Bagel Run recently acquired its longtime coffee supplier, Otus Coffee. Otus Co-Founders Glen and Jaclyn Turchin declined to disclose the financial terms of the deal, but told DCN that they are continuing to run the coffee roasting operation on a full-time basis.

The University of Central Florida’s College of Optics and Photonics, or CREOL, is only one of six such engineering programs nationwide. CREOL hosted three week-long summer camps for students in 10th through 12th grade interested in physics and engineering.

Florida Ranked in the Top 12 States with the Best School System
A popular consumer advice website released a report on the best and worst school systems, and Florida ranked among the top 12. According to WalletHub.com’s study, the top states with the best school systems were Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maryland, New Jersey, and Wisconsin. Florida came in at number 11. States with the worst school systems were New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arizona, Alaska, and Louisiana.
Historic Rose Building put on market
A historic building in the Downtown Entertainment District has just been put on the market. The Historic Rose Building was originally built in 1924 and was designed by Murry S. King for Walter Rose, a local developer and future state senator. King had planned for the building to be the base of a 10-story office building, but due to the Great Depression, Rose was forced to abandon those plans. Rose often incorporated his name into his projects, including Rose Isle, Rosemere, and Rosearden neighborhoods, and the rose in the cartouche of the building was another nod to his family.
