The Mendocino County Sheriff's Office arrested a 47-year-old man for allegedly shooting and killing a man in Point Arena on Thursday.

The department received a 911 call at 8:06 p.m. Thursday from Point Arena resident Pan Jasper Brady, who reported he shot a person. Brady said he and the victim had been in an argument. During the argument, Brady procured a handgun and shot the victim. The firearm was then secured while Brady waited for law enforcement.

When the Sheriff's Office and California State Parks peace officers responded to the call in the 38500 block of Eureka Hill Road, they found the victim dead from at least one gunshot wound.

Brady was arrested and booked into Mendocino County Jail on suspicion of homicide and using a firearm during the commission of a homicide. He is being held on $1 million bail.

The victim is a 54-year-old male from Annapolis in Sonoma County. The identity of the victim will be released after next of kin have been notified. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death.

The Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information related to this incident to contact its detectives at (707) 463-4086. Anonymous tips can be provided at (707) 234-2100.
