LOVELADY – A group of Lovelady Lion junior high students, along with parents and teachers were able to visit Washington D.C., thanks to a group which helps organize and finance the trip. Livingston athlete Carly Pipes recently helped her USAV National Tournament team capture the reserve title in Las Vegas. Competing in the 14 Open Division, her team ascended to No. 2 in the country. College Station police assists the U.S. Marshal’s office and Huntsville police in the capture of a west Texas man. CSPD arrest reports say the Marshal’s office requested assistance in capturing the man who was inside the Home Depot on Monday (July 22) because “he was described to be armed and had made statements he would shoot at police if he was contacted by them.”
Family member dies from gunshot
A July 20 family disturbance in the 3700 block of FM 3459 in Onalaska resulted in the death of a family member. The Polk County Sheriff ’s Office responded to the scene to discover Gerald Fields, 56, of Onalaska, deceased. Witnesses reported that a disturbance occurred between two family members resulting in one dying from a single gunshot.
