Meow! Calling all cat lovers-join us for a purr-fect variety show this Halloween!. Catbaret, a cat-themed cabaret hosted by Gemma Smith, will take place on October 31st, featuring a night of comedy, music, and burlesque (or as we like to call it, purr-lesque). Audiences are invited to come in their most "cat-tastic" costumes for a chance to win the audience costume contest. There will also be a-meow-zing raffle prizes and FREE cat ears for all attendees!
N.Y. weather: Will we get another heat wave this summer?
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Staten Islanders should expect at least one more bout of extreme heat this summer, according to AccuWeather senior meteorologist Tyler Roys. “This is the prime time for a heat wave to occur,” Roys said. “The average temperature expected, or the historical average that’s expected for a high for this time of year is 85 and that runs from just after July 4 all the way through into early August. So, the chance for 90 degrees — this is it.”

New York Provides Free Overdose Emergency Kits to Domestic Violence Shelters
Domestic violence shelters and service providers across New York State now have access to free Overdose Emergency Kits. This initiative is a partnership between the New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence (OPDV), the Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS), and the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS). The kits are provided through Project COPE (Community Overdose Prevention Education), funded by a grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

The 2022 incident led to Gall's suspension, and a judicial watchdog panel ruled that she should be removed from office for the offensive remarks.
