Since the pandemic, Mike Braun has made eating at home and spending time with loved ones a priority at Boiling Point, his Point Pleasant Beach restaurant.

The family-owned restaurant, which has been open for three summers, aims to provide a low-stress way to offer prepared seafood boils to customers, Braun said.

The basic boil, which serves two, is The Mermaid, with potatoes, sweet corn, spicy andouille sausage, onions and jumbo shrimp, lemon and seasoning ($50). The Triton adds six clams and six mussels ($66).

The restaurant’s seafood boils are takeout only. Customers who order the boils will receive a one-time use pot featuring an attached QR code with directions.

In addition to the cooking equipment, the to-go bag comes with a seasoning packet. Customers can choose from traditional, spicy cajun, lemon garlic, or Barnegat Bay, a blend of celery salt and mustard seed. Braun recommended cooking the seafood with Sauvignon blanc.

Beside seafood boils, the restaurant offers a snow crab bucket, crab cakes, and crab macaroni and cheese balls. It's open April through September, then reopens around November or December. The Boiling Point also caters parties, special events and holiday celebrations.

Hours are 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturdays, and 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays. If customers need a last-minute boil on another day, they can call to ask, Braun said.

"(We are) flexible with serving the community," he said.
