Volleyball Begins Season in California
The Muhlenberg volleyball team opened the 2024 season with three matches at the Pacific Coast Classic in California. Despite dropping all three matches, the Mules played some close sets. In the first match against Pomona-Pitzer, Muhlenberg came out on fire, jumping out to a 7-3 lead. The Mules led 19-16 after junior Christina Marcin served two aces in a span of three points, but the Sagehens reeled off the next nine points to close out the set en route to a 3-0 sweep. Flooded problems: Fed policies may cost residents more, but still leave them at risk
An Associated Press review has found that thousands of people may be paying more for flood insurance or remain unaware of the dangers of dam failures because of conflicting federal policies. The Federal Emergency Management Agency offers a way for communities to earn discounts on flood insurance by taking steps to reduce risks. One option is to share information about places that could get inundated if a dam were to fail. But some federal agencies, such as the Bureau of Reclamation, have restricted the release of inundation maps for their dams. The bureau told the AP it plans to relax restrictions over the next eight years.

Shooting in San Francisco leaves girl with life-threatening injuries
San Francisco police said a shooting on Friday severely injured a girl. The shooting happened around 5:24 p.m. on Chicago Way. According to police, officers responded to a home in the area and found a girl who had been shot. She was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
