Amateur photography contest to be held at library next month
Esther Bone Memorial Library is inviting amateur photographers to submit a "Rio Rancho Reads"-themed photo in a friendly competition Sept. 28. The requirement is that the photographers have never been paid for their photos. The photo needs follow the Rio Rancho theme, be unframed, and be 5 inches by 7 inches in size.

Navajo Police Department reports officer-involved shooting in Shiprock
SHIPROCK, N.M. (KRQE) – On Saturday, the Navajo Police Department reported a shooting. The department said the incident was near the Basha’s parking lot in Shiprock, New Mexico. Los Alamos JJAB 20th Anniversary Community Celebration Set For Sept. 14 At Ashley Pond Park
Los Alamos Juvenile Justice Advisory Board (JJAB) has announced its 20th Anniversary Community Celebration, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sept. 14 at Ashley Pond Park. The event will celebrate the organization’s successes and community involvement. It will include free activities such as a bounce house and obstacle course, laser tag, inflatable axe throwing and 3-ball, lawn games, a DJ and prizes.
