Democrats are trying to get under Donald Trump’s skin hours before his debate with Kamala Harris.

The Harris campaign released an ad Tuesday featuring former President Barack Obama’s eyebrow-raising moment from the Democratic National Convention in which he meaningfully glanced down at his hands as he joked about Trump’s obsession with crowd size .

“He’s a 78-year-old billionaire who has not stopped whining about his problems,” Obama said from the DNC stage.

The ad appears to be an effort to shift attention to Trump’s age and unpopular aspects of his personality ahead of a debate in Pennsylvania that could prove to be a pivotal moment in the campaign.

The 30-second ad shows a series of seemingly small and dispirited crowds at Trump campaign rallies — and then flashes to a Harris event with a packed arena.

“Tonight’s debate will present the stark choice Americans will face at the ballot box: between Vice President Harris who is fighting for the people to make our lives better, and the guy who can’t seem to stop obsessing about himself and the size of his crowds,” Harris’ campaign Communications Director Michael Tyler said in a statement.

The new ad is a product of the $361 million the Harris campaign raised last month. It is airing nationally on cable as well as locally in West Palm Beach, not far from the Mar-a-Lago and the location of another resort owned by the former president, as well as Philadelphia, the site of Tuesday’s scheduled debate.

The television ad comes in addition to Philly-themed advertisements placed around the city on billboards, food trucks and taxis. One of those, which also refers to crowd size, features a giant pretzel with Harris’ name on it and a smaller piece with Trump’s name.

The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
