NSP Launches Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign
(Lincoln, NEB.) — The Nebraska State Patrol launched an enforcement campaign to close-out the summer travel season. The campaign will run from August 14 through September 2. “In the coming weeks, events like the State Fair, Husker Football, and Labor Day Weekend will have many traveling across the state,” said Colonel John Bolduc, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. “We want Nebraska to close out the summer safely.”
Dover supports LB 34 after receiving concessions for county governments
Nebraska lawmakers advanced LB 34 on Tuesday, a scaled-down version of Gov. Jim Pillen’s property-tax reduction legislation. District 19 Senator Rob Dover of Norfolk told News Talk WJAG’s Jeffrey Steffen, the legislation included restricting annual increases in property-tax asking authority by county governments by the consumer-price index, or CPI.

Dove hunting season opens soon
With the annual dove season opener on Sept. 1, the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has some reminders for hunters, as well as recommendations for areas to hunt. Doves are abundant statewide and, with generous bag limits, provide some excellent wing-shooting opportunities. Doves may be hunted statewide Sept. 1 – Oct. 30, 2024, with daily bag and possession limits of 15 and 45, respectively. Bag and possession limits are for mourning, white-winged and Eurasian collared-doves in aggregate. Shooting hours are 30 minutes before sunrise until sunset.

Animals killed, barn destroyed in Pillen Family Farms fire in eastern Nebraska
PLATTE COUNTY, Neb. (KOLN) - Multiple animals were killed, and a barn is considered a total loss after a fire at a hog farm owned by Gov. Jim Pillen. The blaze was first reported by the Norfolk Daily News and confirmed by Platte Center Fire and Rescue Treasurer Eric Korus.
