    John David “Buddy” Gentry

    Mr. John David “Buddy” Gentry

    Mr. John David “Buddy” Gentry , age 74, passed away Monday, June 24, 2024.

    Mr. Gentry was born December 22, 1949, in Rome, Georgia, son of the late Grady Gentry and Vera Gentry.

    Mr. Gentry was of the Baptist Faith. After his retirement, Mr. Gentry spent his time working in lawn service. He found much joy just in living and enjoyed dancing, music, and wrestling.

    Mr. Gentry was known for his love for others and was fondly referred to as “paw-paw” by many. He was a jokester and a family man. He loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren, and always made time to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

    In addition to his parents, Mr. Gentry was preceded in death by a cousin, Sandra Gentry, and niece, Angie Brown.

    Mr. Gentry is survived by his wife, Mary Linda Russell; children: Bobbie Russell and wife, Tosha, Sam Gentry, and Wanda Williams; grandchildren: Grace Gilliam, Grayson Perry, KJ Perry, Aura Perry, Chelsey Williams, and Kerston Williams; two dogs, “Toby”, and “Taco”; one cat, “Baby”; siblings: Wanda Michael, Roger Gentry, and Ronnie Gentry; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

    Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held Friday, June 28, 2024, at 3:00 PM at the Smith & Miller Funeral Home, with Reverend Frank Wood officiating and family members will share special memories.

    Mr. Gentry’s family will receive friends also on Friday, at the funeral home, from 1:00 PM until the service hour.

    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Navigators in his memory. Cancer Navigators, 255 W 5th Street, Rome Ga, 30165.

    The Smith & Miller Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. John David “Buddy” Gentry.
