Mr. Olin L. Gammage III , “Big O”, age 58 of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2024.  He was born on October 14, 1965 in Cedartown. He was the son of Letitia Zuker Moore and the late Olin L. Gammage Jr.

Being the third generation of Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home, Olin spent his entire life serving the citizens of Cedartown and Polk County for nearly three decades.

Olin was a 1983 graduate of Cedartown High School; he then attended Georgia Southern University where he obtained a Bachelor of Business Degree with emphasis in Finance. While at Georgia Southern University, Olin was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order. Olin graduated from Jefferson State in Birmingham, Alabama with an Associate of Applied Science in Funeral Service Education in 1992.

He received his Funeral Director/ Embalmer Licenses in 1994. Olin was a Master Mason and a member of Caledonia Lodge #121 and a Noble in The Yaarab Shrine. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Cedartown where he served as a Youth Sunday School teacher and Deacon.

Big O was a true southern gentleman, a loyal, fine Christian man that loved his family dearly, his community and all sports. Through his acts of kindness and generosity, Olin touched the lives of countless individuals during their darkest days and hardest moments.  He treated each and every person that came across his path with the same level of respect, compassion, kindness and love, no matter the circumstances.

The famous Big O hugs, his beaming ear to ear smile and his sincere “I love You” could lift even the heaviest of hearts. Big O dedicated his life to the service of others and to the service of his Lord.

Throughout his life, he passed down this commitment of service to countless youth during his time at First Baptist Church, employees he mentored at Gammage Funeral Home and most importantly, his pride and joy, his four children.
