An endangered species is slowly working its way back from the edge of extinction in the woods of Central Texas. Four families of red cockaded woodpeckers have laid successful broods in the W.D. Jones State Forest in Conroe, Texas. The chicks are a sign of success for the endangered species and are being fed and cared for by all adult members of the breeding community.

KILGORE, Texas — Drivers in Kilgore should be prepared for increased law enforcement presence over the next few weeks as part of a statewide speed reduction campaign. The Kilgore Police Department announced that their annual accident analysis indicates speeding is one of the city's top contributors to accidents. "Speeding is dangerous and can cost you a hefty fine. Always drive to conditions and follow the speed limit," the department stated.

TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Tyler police arrested a Whitehouse police captain after responding to a hit-and-run report, an affidavit says. Tyler police were called out to 8988-110 S. Broadway Avenue at about 4:30 p.m. on Saturday after a driver claimed to be the victim of a minor hit-and-run, according to an arrest affidavit. The victim reported that the other person seemed to have been intoxicated.

Flint man accused of stealing scratch-off tickets worth $300
FLINT, Texas (KLTV) - A Flint man is facing a felony charge after allegedly stealing scratch-off tickets from a convenience store. According to an arrest affidavit, Michael Paul Jones, 24, was allegedly caught on security camera working together with another man to steal three scratch-off tickets, each worth $100, from a convenience store in the 22000 block of Highway 155 South. The store manager noticed the register came up $300 short and notified the Texas Lottery Commission.
