Now, I know that Jinx and Vi are basically doomed by the narrative to never reconcile — and to always be at each other’s throats — but seeing that manifest physically might just destroy me. The new trailer shows Vi picking up an Enforcer gun and uniform, while Jinx becomes some sort of messiah symbol for the oppressed people of the Undercity. All the other characters look like they’re stepping up to their final in-game forms, too, so we’ll get to see how that happens within the show.

Concord, Sony’s new hero shooter, may be DOA, but its spirit will survive. Launched on PlayStation 5 and Windows PC on Aug. 23 only to be removed from storefronts on Sept. 3, with servers set to be fully shut down on Sept. 6, Concord will have one last splash in mainstream culture when its characters take the small screen in Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming animated anthology series Secret Level. Polygon has confirmed with sources close to production that, despite Sony’s decision to completely remove the game from existence, an episode inspired by Concord’s lore and design will roll out when Secret Level premieres in December.

Concord is a competent, well-made game. Or rather it was. I’m going to struggle with tense when it comes to writing about Concord, because, as of Sept. 6, the game has been shut down indefinitely, just two weeks into its existence. Will it ever come back? Firewalk Studios, which developed the game for Sony, says it’s taking Concord offline and refunding buyers while it “determine[s] the best path ahead.” But it’s difficult to envision a healthier future for a game that few people seemed to vibe with and many people actively rooted for to fail.
