Students in the Kansas City area have racked up thousands of dollars in school lunch debt since universal free lunch ended two years ago. During the pandemic, the federal government issued waivers that allowed all school districts to offer free meals to all students. Congress let the program expire in fall 2022.

More than 12,000 students aspiring for careers in healthcare from around the world converged in Houston, Texas on June 26-29 for the HOSA Future Health Professionals International Leadership Conference. Six Great Bend High School students qualified for the international competition, and five students attended.
