Recap: Sporting KC II sinks St. Louis with 3-1 home win
Sporting Kansas City (7-7-4, 27 points) earned a suberb 3-1 home win over rivals St. Louis City 2 (11-4-2, 36 points) on Sunday at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence, Kansas. Fantastic first-half goals from Sebastian Cruz and Cielo Tschantret gave Sporting a 2-1 lead to protect before Roberto Hategan came off the bench to seal the result with a goal of his own in the 80th minute.

Wichita man sentenced to 13 years in jail for dismembering cats, other charges
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A 31-year-old Wichita man has been sentenced to 13 years in the county jail for dismembering cats and domestic-related charges. The Sedgwick County district attorney's office said Judge Eric Williams on Monday sentenced Logan Cavender to one year for each of the 13 counts and ran the sentenced consecutively. Cavender pleaded no contest in May to 10 felony counts of animal cruelty, two misdemeanor counts of stalking and a misdemeanor count of breach of privacy.

Kansas artist completes 108-foot wheat mural on grain elevator
Talented Kansas-based mural artist Mindy Allen has recently finished her largest project to date — a 108-foot-tall mural on a grain elevator in rural Inman. The mural project began nearly five weeks ago, timed to celebrate the 150th anniversary of turkey red winter wheat’s introduction to Kansas. Allen, whose business is called Mindy’s Murals, was determined to honor this milestone accurately. She even engaged the community by setting up a donation poll on Facebook, allowing locals to vote on the color of the combine featured in the mural.
