Cruise Week's legal street drag racing event will return to the M1 Concourse in Pontiac this year.

MotorTrend Presents Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge, which brings drag racing to Woodward Avenue, was moved to downtown Pontiac last year.

But on Aug. 10, the event that regularly attracts thousands of gearheads, amateur drag racers and regular folks will be back at its normal home base a week ahead of the Woodward Dream Cruise, according to an announcement Friday. It was moved to Pontiac City Square last year because of road construction on Woodward.

“We are pleased to have the Roadkill Nights event return to M1 Concourse,” Tim McGrane, CEO at M1 Concourse, said in a news release. “We’ve been working closely with the city, (Michigan Department of Transportation) and the businesses and organizations along Woodward Avenue to help MotorTrend and Dodge bring the event back to M1 Concourse and keep it in the City of Pontiac. It brings a lot of awareness to our community and shows the vibrant car culture of metro Detroit, kicking off our Woodward Dream Show and Festival week.”

More details will be released closer to the date, but the Direct Connection Grudge Match, which includes an online automotive build competition, classic and modern muscle car show and Dodge thrills are scheduled to return.
