Single-car crash kills Pontotoc County man
TUPELO – A Pontotoc man was killed Monday night in a single-car crash on a rural state highway. The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 336 in Pontotoc County on June 10 around 9:15 p.m. The 2007 Toyota Avalon driven by Keith Wright, 38, of Pontotoc, was traveling west on Highway 336 when it left the roadway and overturned. Wright received fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Bessie “Maxine” Canerdy
Bessie “Maxine” Canerdy, 83, passed away June 11, 2024 at the Church Street Manor in Ecru. She was a lifelong resident of Pontotoc County. She was a Christian lady who loved her family dearly. She would help anybody anyway she could. She loved to garden and her flowers. She worked for the public for years and sat with the elderly as well. She had a heart of gold and is healed with Jesus now. She will be greatly missed.
