V8 Vast Change will serve minimal time behind bars in connection to his 2023 drunk driving crash that left a woman seriously injured. After pleading guilty to aggravated DUI, the Bloomington, Illinois-based rapper, real name Dominque Stevenson, will only have to serve 10 days of a six-month jail sentence so long as if he complies with terms of his probation, according to 25News Now .

The musician's case began on the night of June 29, 2023 when officers with the Illinois State Police were called to a two-vehicle crash on U.S Route 51 and Bucks Road just north of Wapella, per a crash report viewed by The Pantagraph . Stevenson, 28, was reportedly driving at "a high rate of speed" southbound on Route 51 when his SUV rear-ended a Dodge Caravan driven by DeWitt County business owner Kim Donovan. The crash sent Donovan's vehicle into a ditch 700 feet away, and Stevenson vehicle caught fire.

Both Stevenson and Donovan were transported to the hospital for treatment. Recalling the crash, Donovan told The Pantagraph that her head struck the windshield and she was knocked out. She suffered a fractured neck, dislocated jaw, and injuries to her face, shoulders, back, hips, and ankle. She was hospitalized for three days, required treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder and six months of physical therapy, and requires further physical therapy and a shoulder surgery. She said she has permanent nerve damage in her feet and her right arm, "to the point where my feet feel like they are always in a bucket of ice."

Reading a victim impact statement during a recent hearing, Donovan said she hasn't slept an entire night in her bed since the crash due to her hip injuries. She added that she continues to suffer because of Stevenson's reckless choices, asking, "where was he going and what was so important that he needed to drive over 100 mph for miles after midnight?" Donovan said that she "lost my source of income at the hands of a daredevil."

Stevenson was charged with two counts of aggravated driving under the influence in a crash causing bodily harm and one count of aggravated reckless driving causing bodily harm, all Class 4 felonies. He was also charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to 25News Now, he pleaded guilty to aggravated DUI, and was sentenced to six-months in the county jail. He will only be required to serve 10 days of that six-month sentence if he complies with terms of his probation, which includes receiving alcohol treatment and attending school to learn about the dangers of drunk driving. He is set to begin serving his jail sentence on Sept. 16, with another court hearing scheduled for Dec. 2 to determine if he is following the rules of his probation. The rapper, who recently released his 29-track album The Melanin King, must also pay almost $16,000 restitution to Donovan.
