FORRESTON, Ill. — The North Boone baseball team got a busy weekend slate of games started on Friday afternoon with a big 14-7 win over Forreston.

The Vikings jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first after RJ Wolski launched a two-run double into right field and Forreston’s Alec Schoohovenn walked Ben Neri with the bases loaded.

The Cardinals (3-2) jumped ahead 5-3 after scoring four runs in the second before the Vikings popped off for seven runs of their own in the top of the third. Quinn Danner and Wolski each had one-run singles while senior Eli Lopez knocked two runs in with his double to left.

Wolski finished 3-for-5 with four RBI after hitting a sacrifice fly in the seventh while Lopez, who added a one-run single in the final frame, was 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. Senior JJ Ford went 2-for-4 with four runs and an RBI.

Owen Meredith allowed six runs (two earned) on four hits in three innings for North Boone while Grady Condon finished the final four frames allowing just two hits and one unearned run with five strikeouts.

    • EAST DUBUQUE 5, NORTH BOONE 4: The Vikings fell to the Warriors in the second game of a doubleheader at Weber Field in Rockton on Saturday.

Wolski launched a two-run bomb to left and Brayden Sunden drew a bases-loaded walk to give North Boone (2-2) a quick 3-0 lead.

But a one-run single by Wolski, who finished 2-for-3 with three RBI, in the fifth proved to be the only other scoring for the Vikings. East Dubuque dropped four runs on North Boone in the second with Carver Kamentz providing a two-run single.

Lopez and Wolski each had two hits for the Vikings, who were outhit 8-5. Neri, who struck out six, and Ford threw four scoreless innings but Garret Vermett threw two innings and allowed four earned runs.

    • HONONEGAH 15, EAST DUBUQUE 0: Three Indians’ pitchers contributed to a no-hitter while the bats exploded for 12 hits in a five-inning win over the Warriors on Saturday.

The Indians (2-0) made it 2-0 after the first inning and were up 11-0 after the second. A run in the third and three in the fourth put the mercy rule into effect.

11 different Indians recorded a hit with Austin Dresser, who smacked a double, racking up two. Landen Seymour blasted a solo home run and Edward added a pair of RBI in the offensive onslaught.

East Dubuque (1-2) was held hitless with Hononegah’s Easton Stewart, Zander Koch and Alexander Skrade shutting them down from the mound. Stewart went three innings and walked two and struck out six while Koch and Skrade combined for two frames and three punchouts.
