I'm an older woman now and I remember not feeling much like a mom after I delivered a healthy baby. I had a very difficult delivery. Lots of complications but the baby was perfect. I took my time to heal from being torn internally. My mom and my grandmothers helped me. I did have "the baby blues". but it soon passed. I don't have a problem with the old timers saying at least you have a healthy baby. I understood it the minute I looked at my newborn daughter. I knew I needed to do better but wasn't ashamed to ask for help until I got on my feet and could care for my baby myself.
